MDeC Sponsors Java EE Training for SEGi Students

SEGi students were treated to a free intensive training programme on Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) under the Undergraduate Skill Programme scheme, conducted by Guidance View training centre.
The training was fully sponsored and coordinated by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), targeting SEGi students with a CGPA of above 2.5. A total of 22 students who qualified for the training were exposed to a month long training of basic Java EE, in addition to talks by industry specialists from 6th June till 2nd July 2011.
One such talk was conducted by representatives from Avows Technologies Sdn Bhd. Jasmair Singh Pannu, the manager of recruitment & business development for the company said, “In this training course it is not all about just technical aspects, this talk is important to these students because it gives insights to them on how to get a job after graduation. It teaches them about the job market for IT these days and also on how to be marketable; it helps them to get prepared for the corporate world”.
The students who participated in the course also appreciate the significance of the programme. Chung Chiew Fei, an IT student at SEGi, says “It is a once in a life time opportunity to gain knowledge through a programme organized by MDeC. The trainers are very approachable and dedicated – they have really helped me to gain more knowledge in programming”.
Chai Sz Onn, a final year Electrical and Electronic Engineering student also noted, “It is great that this programme introduces the world of JAVA to us. Through the basic knowledge they taught us we can further expand on it ourselves, applying the knowledge we learned here in the fields of software programming”.
The Undergraduate Skill Programme on Java EE is coordinated by MDeC which directs and oversees Malaysia’s National ICT (Information & Communication Technology) Initiative. MDeC has been given the mandate by the Malaysian Government for the coordination, promotion and development of the information technology (IT) industry and selected services in MSC Malaysia.
