Laptops for 4,000 Gua Musang students

GUA MUSANG: Some 4,160 students in this district will receive the 1Malaysia laptop computers this year, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) eastern region director Mohd Shafie Harun said.

The computers, costing RM4.160 million, would help students from poor families to gain access to ICT facilities.

He was speaking to reporters after the handing over of the 1Malaysia Netbook by Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Indera Petra Dua, near here today.

Mohd Shafie also said that the MCMC would further expand the broadband coverage in Gua Musang by setting up more WiFi areas.

Among areas with WiFi connectivity at the moment are Kampung Lembaga as well as the community broadband centres in Bandar Lama Gua Musang, Bertam Baru and Bandar Chiku. -- BERNAMA
